I first stepped foot in Montreal, and only for a few days, as a permanent resident.
The next time, I accidentally joined a very successful YouTube channel, Yes Theory, where I rubbed shoulders with the likes of the former mayor, Denis Coderre, and even former prime minister Justin Trudeau, all the while co-writing a feature film that starred the Quebec actress Louise Portal.
Years later, I once again returned to Montreal, working at a self-storage facility with a group of other Turkish immigrants.
Needless to say, I have seen many facets of Montreal and, by extension, Quebec — and I've loved them all.
And yet, I've always had difficulty familiarizing myself with the local culture. Nothing helped me in small talk, let alone connecting with Quebecers.
That is, until I found Occupation Double, a dating show that is also one of the most popular mainstays of Quebec's contemporary culture.
In a unique fashion — literally from my own computer's desktop screen — I recount my love story between me and Quebec, whether it's with its culture, its daily life and even with some of its people.
